Maure = Moor french/english translation right?

Maure Castle is in the latest DUNGEON.

Now, I looked up Maure and it seems to equal "moor" when translated from French to English. Is this correct? The castle in the Abbor Alz mountains is named "Moor Castle?"

According to this dictionary "moor" in English is "lier" or "attacher" in French. This dictionary also doesn't seem to think "maure" is a French word.

While I'm not sure about any inherent meaning in the word, Robert J. Kuntz has said here that the name is pronounced like the "saur" in "saurian".

Hope that helps!

Depends on your accent! I pronounce the au vowel sound in "saurian" exactly the same way as I pronounce the oo vowel sound in "moor" and the aw vowel sound in "saw", etc.

So, Maure Castle sounds like Moor Castle to me...

Cheers,
Cam

That's "moor" as in "to moor a boat" - "Moor" as in "a person from a Northwest African ethnic group" is indeed "Maure."
