Maximizing attack bonus

Hedgemage

First Post
I'm forgetful.

Can someone please point me to a thread or resource that will help me maximize my character's attack bonus? Or better yet, help me out here?

I have a level 7 dragon magic Sorcerer with 19 Cha, a +2 implement and the Draconic Spellcaster feat.

So my attack bonuses are:
Ability: +4
Level: +3
Implement: enhancement bonus +2
Draconic Spellcaster (when applicable): feat bonus +1
Current maximum total: +10

Any other ways to boost my attack bonus? I am very unlucky and miss all the time, so I need all the help I can get.

If you are using a staff, the Staff Expertise feat will give you an always-on +1 feat bonus to hit that scales with level. If you are using a dagger, Versatile Expertise will give you the same always-on bonus, but it doesn't scale as quickly and has no extra benefits.

An Accurate superior implement will give you a +1 untyped bonus to hit. Your character needs the Superior Implement Proficiency feat to use it.

You could look for feats that help grant combat advantage from distance such as cunning stalker. If you are able to swap implements you could train in an accurate implement and the appropriate superior implement feat to use it

Essentially what I'm hearing is that there's a lot of ways to get a +1/2/3 feat bonus to attack, but none of them stack. What I need then is to try to get combat advantage, or untyped bonuses.

Ok, what are some feats that help grant other bonus types that would be available to a sorcerer? I see Superior Implement Proficiency and Cunning Stalker mentioned above.

You're a dragonborn. Don't forget your +1 to hit while bloodied.

You can debuff enemy defenses. Hellfire and Brimstone Theme will give you a nice 2 round debuff. Harper Theme is another nice accuracy boosting option.

You could pick up Bravo multiclass for two rounds of +2 against a target. Intimidate is great for a dragonborn sorcerer anyway.

You could grab Surprising Breath.

White Lotus Enervation can also lower enemy defense, though depending on the speed with which stuff dies around you, it may or may not be worthwhile.

Grab Good Timing utility power for a daily reliable reroll.

Grab Fate's Chaos for use with something that targets lots of enemies like Winds of Change.

This is not an exhaustive list, there are other ways to get rerolls, predetermined rolls, conditional debuffs and attack bonuses, and ways to get CA.

You could also always beg for help from a leader... It is after all part of their job description to help strikers hit more, and do more damage.

You're 7th level, you could easily have a +3 implement too. Also, remember, when you hit 8th level you're getting an added +1 for level and +1 for stat boost. Level 8 bump is a pretty good sized one. Take VE at the same time, that's +3 in one shot, you will be on the good side of accuracy. You can then pick up Accurate Dagger Proficiency if you want for another +1.

Expertise and an accurate implement will both stack with each other, but maybe not with Draconic Spellcaster(I'm not familiar with that one).

Draconic Spellcaster (Arcane Power) gives a feat bonus of +1/+2/+3 to attack AND damage to powers that have the same damage type as a dragonborn's breath weapon (per current errata). The only thing that keeps it from being a god-tier feat is this damage type restriction and that the step increases are at levels 15 and 25 instead of 11 and 21 like most stepped feats.

So, at level 10 and below and with careful power selection, you can see its a pretty good boost. I'm loathe to replace it for roleplaying reasons too.

That's why I'm fishing for other ways to get bonuses since all those expertise feats won't stack with Draconic Spellcaster.

Thanks for the input so far, its really gotten my mental gears turning.
