This is a great idea. Where do you get your 4x4 bases (or do you make your own)?

Masonite (I believe also called MSD or particle board) is available in 1/4 inch sheets, it cuts well, and can be sanded. You can fet both thicker and thinner sheets. Seal both sides of the board before painting to prevent warping. If you can get a circle cutter for an electric drill then you are golden as far as the round D&D bases are concerned. (It is actually easier than making square bases...)

They were $11 each at my local Toys R Us. I picked up 2: the Sorcerer dragon and the Komodo Clan dragon. Both were nifty. The store didn't have but abt one of each but I wasn't willing to get all of them just yet; not right before a con..... ;)

Wow... I couldn't get to their site yesterday but I was finally able to have a peek at them today. Say what you want about Todd, but his company puts out some damn fine toys/models.

Heh, he's always put out better toys than comics...

The Auld Grump, hmmm, water and sorcery for starts, save the 'fire clan' for an arctic campaign...

The only metal minis I've seen that are this size and can come close to the quality are the old Grenadier Teronus model, a couple of the big Reaper dragons, and T'char from Ral Partha.

Thanks for the review. A high recommendation indeed! I really like the looks of the White Dragon (Fire). If the sculpt is that good I can always touch it up.

I picked up the Water Clan dragon today... had to pick between that, the sorcerer, the fire, and the Komodo... Fire next I think, it would make a good white.

The Sorcerer dragon is decent but the Orb in his hand looks NOTHING like the mock up pictures, lucky for me I had a marble and I removed the crappy rubber ball and replaced it with something that looked better.

See, if I buy this one, I'll just replace the rubber ball with a Barbie doll head....after I paint on a grimace of agony on the doll's face and add some blood and part of a spinal cord hanging loosely out of the neck hole.
