MDj not broken, just unclear?

All magical effects and magic items within the radius of the spell, except for those that the character carries or touches, are disjoined. That is, spells and spell-like effects are separated into their individual components (ending the effect as a dispel magic spell does), and permanent magic items must make successful Will saves or be turned into normal items. An item in a creature’s possession uses its own Will save bonus or its possessor’s Will save bonus, whichever is higher.

Looks like a direct contradiction to me.

Anyway, it's possible that only unattended magic items or Ioun Stones can get nuked.

Thoughts?

Unless I'm misreading the excerpt - all items attended or not except those that the caster is carrying or touching get potentially disjoined. The first part refers to the character which seems to mean the caster, the remainder everyone else (as evidenced by "a creature").

I don't think it's unclear it merely states that the caster's items don't get disjoined.

Only the caster's items are immune. All other items in the area must save or be disjoined.

Items attended by another character do get the benefit of their user's Will save, if it is better than their own, but that's far from a sure defense against a 9th-level spell.

Yeah, they said I was wrong at the Monte Cook forum too. And I was about to email this to Andy Collins. D'oh!

Anyway, where did the "flag" expression come from? I'm starting to see it at the Monte Cook forum too.

I pulled it outta my <bleep!> one day, but I'm sure its been done before. At the time, I believe I had an image of a cartoon character waving around a tiny little flag in mock victory for another cartoon character. Can't remember which one though.
