Just a quick question regarding the upping of weapon damage using the size categories.

I have a Hv Mithril Spiked Shield which does d6 damage.

If I add the 'Bashing' enchantment to it am I correct in saying that it's damage output is now 2d6 since it adds 2 size categories worth of damage to it?

Thanks for your time.

IIRC... the bashing enhancement does not increase any damage from the spikes... just the shield itself.

The spikes do not deal damage.

You have a heavy shield dealing 1d4B damage. If you add spikes, you now have a heavy spiked shield dealing 1d6P damage. It is the spiked shield, not the spikes, that deals the damage... and it is the spiked shield, not the shield nor the spikes, to which you add the Bashing ability.

"Only light and heavy shields can have [the bashing] ability".-- SRD

A "heavy spiked shield" may be "heavy", it may be a "shield", but technically it's not a "heavy shield".

Maybe I'm being too liberal in my reading, but I took that to mean, no bucklers.
