Meeting EN Worlders in real life

This was a busy social week for me - Wednesday I met Sagrabah and Balsamic Dragon for the first time (open gaming at our local gaming store), yesterday I had breakfast with The Jester and gamed with him last night, and I just had breakfast with Blood Jester and his wife before they headed off to explore Boston! Sheesh, and they're all incredibly nice; The Jester didn't even try to eat my cat, like he did Alsih2o's.

I think I've been incredibly lucky. I just started to try and figure out how many folks I've met from here and liked, and I'm not sure I can count that high. On the other hand, the people I've met and didn't click with could be counted on the fingers of half-a-hand.

In general, have you folks found that EN World has been useful in meeting new friends//gamers? I know that the Boston game days have been pretty good at that for me, and the Chicago game days have been incredible successes. Any comments or stories?

(And, if I haven't said so recently - thanks Eric, and Morrus, for making this possible in the first place.) :D

Good call PC, It cant be said too much!

Well not only have I met wonderful people at places like GenCon or Chicago Game Day, but it put me in touch with...

a) Meatbop, aka Steve, and his wife, who joined my gaming group.

b) WanderingMonster, aka Scott, who lives in Madison, has lovely kids, and who has led an eerily parallel life to my own (we've had the same boss!).

c) James Wyatt, pre-WotC, put me in touch with my other gaming group even before 3E was actually released -- I've been with them for around 3 years now (sheesh!).

I haven't met any in person yet (that I'm aware of), but I expect that will change in the next 12 months.

** Joshua Dyal and I will likely make guest appearances in one another's campaigns at some point...I hope.
** Teflon Billy and I are going to have to hit a Wings/Canucks game together somewhere down the line. Besides, my wife and I really want to visit Vancouver.
** I've exchanged loads of emails with SHARK and feel like we've known each other for years, so I'd imagine that we'll eventually get to raise a pint of Bass Ale in person someday.

And hopefully I'll get to meet many more of you at GenCon next year!!

It's worked ok for me a couple of times, but given how many goddamn people there are in the New York area, it's actually been really hard to find anyone, it seems.

My current group is the result of a combination of posts here, two or three other message boards, two gaming stores and a lot of luck... On a per-capita basis, this place is a rpg desert, it often seems like, with a grand total of two reasonably well know rpg stores. (I'm sure there are some smaller ones scattered about, but yo hardly ever hear about them).

I have met my entire gaming group through this site and enjoyed 3 kick butt Chicago game days full of local ENers. Since Indianapolis is a bigger trek than Milwaukee for Gencon, I hope to hook up with some ENers while I am there.

I met Jester, he's pretty cool. Great gaming stories, as all true gamers have. I found my current group though EN World, so that has obviously worked well. And we are trying to get together an Ohio Gameday. So, once that happens I imagine I'll get to meet a lot mor eof these people. I thank Morrus, Eric, and ABBA for this. :D
