Melkor! Your take?

Isn't Vin Diesel's character called Melchor?

My last name is Melchior, and I'm appalled that that spelling of my name is being used for a drow PC.

You know, it's really nice that he "used to play" and all...

But if he's not still playing, he's not really doing us any favors by talking about it. Lots of cool/popular folks used to be geeks. It's practically expected; people say "Wow, look how far he's come."

He's not really making us look any "better" unless he's still playing, and still a geek.

(Yeah, I know it's not like he owes the community anything. But everyone keeps talking how cool it is that Vin Diesel's talking about D&D, and I just don't think it is that cool if he's talking about stuff he used to do.)

Edit: Aplogies for the hijack, especially so early in the thread...

To be honest, I could care less if he's playing njow, before or ever.

Yanno, Regardless if he's playing now, its prolly cause of time. Same with all of us.

How many of us here "used to play" but cant because of work?
Hrm? You cant judge him the same way.

He's an actor with a lot of time contraints to his job. If he could play i'm sure he would.

Despite what he said in that particular interview, what I've read about him in other sources suggests that he definitely does still play.

Ah. That's cool. :)

Still wish he'd say so, though. (And yeah, if you read it in other interviews, he obviously did say so at some point, but still. :D)
