Mensa seems to be pretty much a social group that is based on the idea that it is easier to socialise with people of a similar intelligence level possesing similar interests. This leads to the prevalence of SIGs (Special Interest Groups) in said Org.

With that in mind it seems that (this is just an observation from my experience) people in the 2% group like to talk to learn whereas "normal" people (whoever that might be) like to talk about other people.

So whereas one person will talk about who they met in Rome, the top 2% could be expected to talk about waht they saw and learned in Rome.

But I could be waay wrong. Still, from the description, Mensa does sound like it could be fun.

Dear lord... I was in Mensa as a kid... ugh.

As to what ex-mensa (or current) people play... it's exactly the same as any other I suspect. IQ tests and Mensa are both highly overated.

Qualified...never bothered.

I tend to GM.....but I think that's more my type A personality than IQ based. (but honest....I'm not a control freak....I'm not!)

The challenge I enjoy is making the world come alive.

One of my teachers invited me to join, but I never took him up on the offer. Doesn't really seem like the type of thing that would be all that fun.

If it means anything, I tend to play clerics.

well whatever it is that i play it tends to come up with most of the group's plans that work and kick a disproportionate ammount of butt. i refused to take the lead today and i kid you not 5 rounds later the whole group of 6 had finally ascended a 15 foot staircase. oh, cleric/wizard currently but usually paladins that fall.

and yes i did join just to prove some misguided teachers from my past wrong, just to say i got in. not an active member.

Well I suspect there are few if any with a 132+ IQ around here as that is generally top 4 or 5 percentile levels of the populace. (No offence if any are here, its just numerically unlikely that there would be many if any at all is all, though it would be nice if all that percentile were roleplayers ).

I myself have a 126 IQ, which for someone of my age (30) puts me in the top 10% of the populace.

The actual IQ ratings are very subjective and have a lot to do with age, with differing levels putting you in different percentiles dependant upon the age of the person in question.

But to answer your question, I play Elves and Wizards by far more than any other race or class combinations.

I play a Baklunish (Human) Rog4/Wiz1/Acr5. Considers himself an "athlete" rather than a thief.

Should he need replacing, it'll probably be a half-orc Master of Chains or a Cleric of some stripe.

I usually DM, though.

FWIW, as the "against the stereotype", in 20+ years of gaming, I've never played a cleric of wizard for more than 2-3 game sessions. Just don't enjoy spells, for the most port. There was one spellcaster I played for quite some time, but he was a 3E Sorcerer (basically a Transmuter). He had almost no offensive spells and had like three or four variants of the Shrink Item spell. He carried literally hundreds of permanently shrunken items around with him in decks of cards (the form his items took, rather than cloth patches).

So smart people don't think about other people? Might just go to show that IQ tests don't measure social intelligence, only analytical skills.

Did the Australia-wide IQ test on TV a few months back, and scored an IQ of above 146. Demonstrated to me that I'm very good at the sorts of things that IQ tests measure; didn't tell me anything about whether I'm a good communicator or well-rounded individual. Maybe I don't care about other people. Frankly, they are merely pawns in my impossibly convoluted schemes to TAKE OVER THE WORLD. BWAH AH AH AH!
