Man, I'm gonna do this up real nice and post it on my web site, at some point.
I honestly don't think I would be a Christian if I hadn't played D&D. I was raised in a pseudo-Christian household (some lip service, but little else), but I'd probably have ended up a deist at best. The short form:
D&D got me to ponder world creation. World creation got me looking at our world, but physically and historically. The physical study led me to believe that there existed a creator of some stripe. History got me to realize how badly the Medieval Papacy had distorted what Christ taught, which led me to explore Christ's message. That, in turn, got me to believe that he was really, really wise. After a brief flirt with Arianism (as in follower of Arius, not racial supremism) and Gnosticism, I settled into a more 'traditional' Christian church (Missouri Synod Lutheranism, FWIW).
There is a statement Christ made (in relation to driving out spirits, IIRC) that can be interpretted to mean that no tool/method of Satan could ever lead someone to God. Based on that, it only takes a single example of someone led to God by something to prove that it is not "Satan's tool". I am that example for D&D. QED.
Edit: Snipped rant that really doesn't apply to this fine young lady and is only likely to start a religion/politics debate.
