In a thread on EN World regarding the recent uproar over the latest WotC cover cover up, MerricB (RPG columnist and noted gamer fashion plate) played it quite cool. The thread began when Gez evoked the "Rule of Three" to emphasize WotC's string of poor follow through on early choices for titles and covers of their supplementary material to the Dungeons and Dragons (tm) game line. The most recent of such transgressions involved the early naming of the Maelstrom supplement, and the recent change to use of the alternate title Stormwrack. It wasn't long into the thread when accusations of "dumbing down" and purposeful misspelling were profered by the angry mob of gaming posters. Playing his hand close to the vest and waiting until page two of the thread, after a good lather had been worked up by one and all, MerricB strode confidently forth and chimed in...
Such cool-headedness is to be admired and mimicked in these troubled times when, as we all know, the entirety of the RPGing Industry could come to a screeching halt based on a false allogation being posted on a message board. Well Played, MerricB! We Salute You!
