Metacritic Ratings for new fall shows

Receiving new script orders are: Cane, Bionic Woman, Chuck, Life and Journeyman. This does not mean the shows are picked up for the season, but it does mean the network has some faith in the show.

The second episode of ABC’s Pushing Daisies (10.26 million, 3.7/11 in 18-49) won the demos in the time period.

Private Practice (12.42 million, 4.9/13 share) took the hour’s demos with ease, and actually GREW in audience from the private episode. Which means they have a winner.

Bionic Woman (10.28 million, 3.9/10) may be stabilizing, but continues to lose to Private Practice. Despite the slip in ratings, NBC said it was up 41% compared with the network's 18-49 average in the 9 p.m.-10 p.m. time period last season (hence ordering new scripts). Noteworthy however are reports behind the scenes of issues with going over the budget.

Believe it or not, Moonlight is getting positive fan response. CBS' vampire-detective drama has been stronger in the ratings than expected, which allow it to keep up the momentum in the bridge slot on Friday nights between Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs. It might stay.

Probably on the verge of cancellation: Life Is Wild, K-Ville, Cavemen, Carpoolers, Back to You.

None too soon for Cavemen. I would have been happy if they had canceled it during the first commercial break.

The problem is it got strong "car crash" ratings. That is to say, strong ratings from looky-loos who stopped by to watch the car crash that was the first episode.

Updated with new Caveman rating (it rose 2 points) and added Samantha Who? and Viva Laughlin. Only Samantha Who? got a halfway decent score.

Edit: Updated several other scores. None of them changed more than 2 points.

Right now I'm watching and enjoying:

Back to You
Big Bang Theory
Journeyman
Life
Reaper

I'm on the fence with

Bionic Woman
Chuck
Kitchen Nightmares

Full-season pickups:
The Big Bang Theory, CBS (10/18)
Gossip Girl, the CW (10/9)
Private Practice, ABC (10/18)
The Unit, CBS (10/18)

Canceled:
Nashville (pulled 9/21, although canceled officially 10/19)
Online Nation (10/18)
Viva Laughlin (10/22)

I figure at this point it's 50/50 for both Chuck and Journeyman... maybe slightly higher for Chuck. Neither of them are really getting anything from Heroes, and chances are they'd both be in trouble were they on another night. i haven't seen any ratings for audience drop-off though.

I expect Bionic Woman to move into a post-Heroes slot if it stays on next year, to completely dominate Monday night, which NBC badly needs.

I hope that Journeyman isn't cancelled. I really want to see if they have a concept behind why this is happening. It initially seemed to be making revelations, but then pretty much stopped.

IMO, the big lapse seems to be that he hasn't started fighting his being ripped away a random times. His life is being shredded and he just seems to accept it.

Right now, Journeyman is looking shaky as far as ratings go. It keeps bleeding ratings week to week, and has not found a stabilization point.

"Journeyman" got 6.1 million (down 7%)
"Chuck" got 7.2 million (dropped 15%)
"How I Met Your Mother" got 8.5 million (up 10%)
"The Big Bang Theory" got 8.8 million (up 13%)
"Heroes" got 10.8 million (down 6%)
