Is an empowered fireball still a third level spell for purposes of globe of invulnerability? If not, why would anyone use heighten spell?

I'm sure I'm just tired and am missing some obvious notes about this in the PHB...

Yes. The empowered fireball is a 3rd-level spell that uses a 5th-level slot.

Heighten spell could also be useful for raising save DC's. Empowered Fireball DC is 13+stat, heightened to 5th level = 15+stat. Could occasionally be useful...

And yes, AFAIK, Empowered Fireball is a 3rd level spell.

Of course, one must remember that a Heightened Empowered Fireball must be prepared into a seventh-level slot.

Or you could just cast cone of cold, have a higher dc automatically, do about the same damage, depending on level, cut through globes automatically, and not have to spend the feat

At some point I must go through and fix all of the metamagics..hmm..
