metamagic feat - lengthen spell - what you think?

Plane Sailing

Astral Admin - Mwahahaha!
I've been toying for some while of an additional metamagic feat. I can't think of a good name for it, so for the moment I've dubbed it "lengthen spell"

Lengthen Spell
Effect: Applied to an instantaneous, damage causing spell, it makes that spell last for 1 full round instead. Any creature entering the spell area during that round must save or take damage as normal. Fire spells which are lengthened will ignite flammables in their area unless a DC15 Reflex ST is made.

nb: nobody can take more damage than normal from a lengthened spell; it just allows a spell to remain for longer and provide a battlefield feature.

Spell level increase... +1

Any obvious abuses, or does this seem about right to you?

1° Does it deal continuous damage for that whole round, since it is no longer instantaneous (it forces Concentration checks for spellcasting) ?

2° Can it be combined with Extend Spell for a 2-round duration ?

1) I think this would be a reasonable effect to include in the description (logical, probably not too powerful)

2) I would say yes. Might as well make Extend useful for something again :) and it is overall a +2 level increase, and the two feats are arguably less useful than a single empower unless you are in a particular situation where the target(s) have restricted mobility.

n.b. my conceptual model for this is the new Ice Storm spell, which was changed from "instantaneous" to "1 full round" duration.
