metropolis demographics by class

hey folks. i spent about 2 hours yesterday with dice determining what the breakdown by class and level for a standard metropolis in the forgotten realms would be like. here's what i came up with:

Adept 18, 16, 14, 13, 2@9, 2@8, 2@7, 2@6, 8@4, 8@3, 16@2 , 48@1
Aristocrat 16, 15, 15, 14, 2@8, 6@7, 4@4, 12@3, 8@2, 40@1
Barbarian 16, 15, 14, 13, 2@8, 4@7, 2@6, 4@4, 12@3, 8@2, 40@1
Bard 18, 17, 17, 16, 2@9, 6@8, 16@4, 32@2, 64@1
Cleric 17, 17, 14, 13, 4@8, 2@7, 2@6, 8@4, 8@3, 16@2, 48@1
Commoner 20, 20, 20, 16, 6@10, 2@8, 12@5, 4@4, 32@2
Druid 17, 16, 15, 14, 4@8, 4@7, 8@4, 8@3, 16@2, 48@1
Expert 20, 20, 19, 18, 4@10, 4@9, 8@5, 8@4, 32@2, 64@1
Fighter 19, 19, 17, 14, 4@9, 2@8, 2@7, 12@4, 4@3, 24@2, 56@1
Monk 16, 16, 14, 13, 4@8, 2@7, 2@6, 8@4, 8@3, 16@2, 48@1
Paladin 15, 14, 13, 13, 4@7, 4@6, 16@3, 32@1
Ranger 15, 15, 14, 13, 6@7, 2@6, 16@3, 32@1
Rogue 19, 18, 16, 14, 4@9, 2@8, 2@7, 12@4, 4@3, 24@2, 56@1
Sorcerer 18, 17, 14, 13, 2@9, 2@8, 2@7, 2@6, 8@4, 8@3, 16@2, 48@1
Wizard 19, 18, 14, 13, 2@9, 2@8, 2@7, 2@6, 8@4, 8@3, 16@2, 56@1
Warrior 19, 17, 14, 14, 2@9, 2@8, 4@7, 8@4, 8@3, 16@2, 48@1

note that for levels above 20 [actually, only commoners and experts!?!], i've capped it at 20. interesting results but i'd probably tweak the numbers a bit to allow for more 1st level experts and warriors. in any event, it helps to understand why cities aren't leveled by dragons on a daily basis. :)

Why did you need dice for that, though, I wonder? :)

Are you basing your results on the average of lots of rolls, or...?

Darkness, don't you know it's impolite to ask what a desperate D&D geek in need of a <s>fix</s> game will do?

Nothing much worse than a math geek like me might do, in all likelihood... :o

the dice were to figure out the 4 highest individuals of each class per pgs 139 & 140 of the DMG. note that the stats for wizards and sorcerers are boosted somewhat per the guidelines in the FRCS. i know some may complain about way too many high-level characters running around but think about it this way: without such strong characters in cities, what's to keep the dragons, illithids, beholders, drow, what-have-you for running over the huddled masses on a regular basis? it actually makes sense to have these numbers in a world based upon the actual rules of d&d [magic, monsters, and what].

oh, and hong, it's amazing how low we stoop when we're jonesin', isn't it?

Why not just calculate averages, though? :)
Because you'd have to round levels? (Since the average on all dice types used in D&D ends with .5.)

Are there also supposed to be 20000 1st level commoners? Cause they ain't listed...

I also think there's a lot of high level characters. My own cities have some very powerful people, and I think any city should, but there are some serious players in this town...

PS

i didn't feel the need to list the 1st level commoners since metropoli can vary in size from 25000 to ... well there is no limit.

well, at least there are only 60 paladins. :D

keep in mind, folks, that this is the standard metropolis as outlined by the DMG and that only the upper limits of wizards and sorcerers have been tweaked somewhat by the standard rules of the FRCS.
