MICHAEL HAMLETT JOINS BAEG TOBAR IN "THE BROKEN MANTLE"
April 23, 2007 (Blue Springs, MO) – Baeg Tobar ( www.baegtobar.com), a premiere online, shared world community of creators of fiction and art, is pleased to announce Michael Hamlett as the new artist for web comic, "The Broken Mantle." Written by Daniel Tyler Gooden, also the author of Baeg Tobar novel The Unmade Man, "The Broken Mantle" was started with artist Rick Hershey, owner of Empty Room Studios. When Hershey had to leave the comic to focus on other projects in early April, Hamlett joined Gooden and colorist Ramiro Diaz Legaspe to complete the team.
Hamlett began working with Baeg Tobar as a concept designer. His work on the sky ship design for one of Baeg Tobar's new fantasy races, featured in the public forums at the Tangled Muse, convinced founder and owner Jeremy Mohler that Hamlett was the man for the job. "I've known Mike for a while and his work has always impressed me," said Mohler. "When Rick Hershey decided to move on, I felt it was a perfect opportunity to talk to Mike and get him more involved in Baeg Tobar. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with the comic!"
"Mike's concept work for BT has been truly original and amazingly beautiful," commented Gooden. "When I heard that he agreed to come aboard as TBM's new artist, I was ecstatic. We've really had a strong start with 'The Broken Mantle,' and I expect wonderous things out of Mike's addition. The readers are going to see something special out of Mike, Ramiro, and myself in the weeks to come. You can count on it!"
Hamlett also expressed excitement for taking on the project. "It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up," he said. "Rick has done a fantastic job with the comic so far, and I hope to maintain the level of quality he established. It's not every day you get to draw wild bird men and steam-powered robots--just two unique elements that I'm sure will capture the interest of many readers to come. With Daniel at the helm and Ramiro on colors there's no doubt this is going to be a great ride!"
"The Broken Mantle" continues to update regularly at BaegTobar.com. Character designs, notes on process, and general discussion about the comic are hosted on the Tangled Muse forums at www.tangledmuse.com.
