Another use of the fiducials is sound effects. So now when a player says I listen at the door and makes his listen check, the DM places a fiducial down
and the players hear the sound coming from behind the door. Or you can play background music. The party is in a jungle, place down a fid, and it plays jungle sounds. Birds, roars etc. The fact you can lay multipe fids down, you can have all kinds of sounds and music playing at the same time.
