Midgard Saga-OOC (FULL)

Daiymo

First Post
Woo hoo! Im back! After a long absence, I have come back. But anyway...

Id like to DM a game based on Asgardian mythology for 4 players. Itd be set in the realm of Midgard based loosely on Norse myth. Heres what I have in mind:

Characters based on a 28 point buy. Level 2 ( yea level 2). starting gold 900 gp- no magic items. I have the following books so this is what we'll use as reference-

3 core books (no splatbooks yet)
Deities and Demigods (for the Asgardian pantheon)
Monster Manual 2
Savage Species
Fiend Folio

Classes:
Fighter
Cleric (Gothi)
Wizard or Sorcerer (Vitki)
Ranger (Hunter)
Druid (Guardian)
Rogue
Barbarian (Beserker)
Bard (Skald)
Paladin(Champion)

Races:
Human
Half Drow(Half svartalf) - same as half elf, except replace lowlight vision with darkvision.
Deep Dwarf ( as per the MM)
Elf
Kobold- as halfling; unlike regular kobold, are humanoids with grey skin, large eyes, hair ranging from red to blonde. Mishceveous tricksters; favored class rogue.
Half Orc
Planetouched-
Aasimar
Air Gensai (Dragon 293)
Fire Gensai (Dragon 293)

I'd be very interested in playing this. I'm between a number of different characters at the moment: Tell me what you think...

Human Male Halfspear Berserker - Carrying three spears, and just that into combat, the raging hulk of a man, bearing no real armor, charging his enemies with no mercy, full of rage and vigor, the pinnacle of the ideal Barbarian...

Human Male Wizard - A finnicky and frail young man with an interest in magic not meant to be comprehended by men, he ponders over lost lore and whatever signs of the gods steps he can find, gathering information for some secret drive. Motivated by pure spite, he wishes to remove the order of society and possibly, if he can only survive, rival the gods and make the equals instead of superiors...

Middle Aged Human Male Cleric of Tyr - Fullbearded and already graying, enforcing the customs of the old ways, making himself the enforcer of the most feral laws, and bringing about fortune for those with good hearts, and smiting those that are course and vile. He wishes only to protect his charges, those men brave enough to do battle in the name of the gods, solidly supporting the old religion and the will of his god, fearlessly...

Elf Female Cleric of Frigga - Watchmother of many children, believing it is her duty to protect the children whom she has delivered as a matron, knowing that she is bound to those she brings into the world the same way the Valkyrie is bound to the dead, she seeks to protect and prolong the lives of the humans, sustaining them till the time when they can fall in the most glorious of battle, and face their next birth on Asgard...

This sounds interesting.
Character possibilities:

A Ljosalfar (High Elf) Ranger 2.

Human Cleric of Thor 2.

Deep Dwarf Fighter 2.

Half-Svartalfar Bard 2.

All of them look pretty good, but I think like the Cleric of Frigga. Nice change of pace from the stereotypical Viking type. In fact 3 of your 4 ideas arent the typical violent raider Viking type, very cool.

Also, after much looking, heres a map I er stole from a site- gives a good idea of the world view I had in mind. The maps from the north's perspective-although this map is from the late Renaissance. Its kinda small. I ve been thinking of setting the game in the (fictional) Jarldom of Markland, a forest Kingdom in the western shore of the North Sea (What was really in Canada in the Labrador area.) Sort of a loose aligned rough border area/colony, where younger sons go to find land and adventure.

EDIT: Just missed you Uriel :) posted over you

What's up with all the lowlevel games all of a sudden? I do so wana join them. Wish they were around when I just got here, then I wouldn't have joined the higher level ones.

Ahh, well, enough rambling. *resists joining game*

Wouldn't have joined the high level ones? You wound me to the Quick, Sir! (points at his fingernail)..Sheesh...
:D

The Dwarven Campaign is cool! I think there might be one or two others I wouldn't join now that I did join back then. Nothing I really regret though.

(I wasn't offended)
Yeah, I have been 'e!Me! ing a lot lately...I think I need to bow out of a game or three that hasn't started yet.

I do like Norse settings quite a lot, though. I think I'll go for the half-alfar bard, a moody bastard, convinced that Ragnarok is nigh...

Very Cool! Can I get in on this? I would like to play a stout norse warrior if I could. Heck you need at least one Viking in a Viking game right?

Still room?

OK - I'm a sucker for historical based games. I like the idea of vikings exploring the new world. I'd like to play a somewhat atypical half-orc barbarian if there's still space.
