Midnight 2nd Edition

I actually think it would work quite well - you may want to exclude certain classes or create new ones, but 4E should be easy to fit Midnight from all that I played of it...

Aside: On the '4e is harder than M&M' comment... is 3e _easier_ than M&M? Cause 4e feels easier than 3e, but I could see M&M going either way depending how you wanted to structure things.

I wonder how much conversion I would need to do in order to use Midnight with 4e? I read up on Midnight las night and saw a lot of Tolkien influence in what I read. I would probably either convert the classes and races or take the classes and simply use the closest equivalent in 4e.

I wonder just what I would have to do to convert the NPCs, feats, classes, and races to 4e? Do any of you have any suggestions for any of these?

They're not compatible. If you try and convert Midnight to 4e, you will get a 4e game that maybe looks a bit like Midnight in a bad light, but won't play or feel the same.

If you do want to try this there are obviously some major compromises that will have to be made. But I would have to say that if you try converting anything from 3e to 4e you are going to have to make some major compromises.

It would be a major overhaul and a lot of work but I wouldn't say it's impossible.

I think I would start with the classes and see if you can keep a couple of things that are class abilities and then turn the rest into "powers".

I've only played 4E once but the biggest issues for me are the healing surges which really don't fit for Midnight, where healing is difficult to come by, and the constant ability of spell casters to cast spells like magic missile. Magic should be rare and difficult. The races don't fit well either, but you can always drop the non-Midnight races.
