Thank you. :)

Thing is - prior to 2005 Mike had written so much with d20 companies about a wide range of topics that it seemed natural that you'd want someone with such a broad experience being in the mix for a new edition design. It was almost comical to me how back then I'd choose any random d20 book in my library and it had a very good chance of having Mike's name in it as an author or contributor in some way.

He had already created Iron Heroes so he even had experience designing an enitre ruleset based off of D&D. While some people (me included) may not agree with all of his design decisions, there is no question in my book that he's got a great gift for analysis and creativity. Exactly the type you'd want working on the flagship RPG.

And even now, Mike Mearls's influence turns out to be a positive one.

:D :D :D <-- Three-smiley salute.

Thanks for your 2+ years (and counting) of service to WotC.

Wow. Okay, that is impressive. Mearls himself couldn't have predicted that.

Also, nice forum archaeology and necromancy, Bovine.

Ya, but this is what davemage said when he had the chance to hit that nail on the head:

What will WotC announce? (at Gencon 07)

Probably a lot of info about the Desert of Desolation minis set due out in November.

And they'll talk about their already-public upcoming releases.

And more on the DI....

NO. CALL.

(actually, this was pretty cool as search-fu...but confidence man, make a call, stick with it, then gloat like a...)

My bad was believing the misinformation that was reported at the D&D Experience. Since they *said* (or so I thought) that there would be no 4e through 2008, I figured, ya know, that they meant what they said. Add to the fact that they had *also* indicated that all major D&D announcements would be at the D&D Experience, and there you go!
