Mindaffecting friendly fire | nonlethal damage with arrows

First Post
Yesterday's session begged some questions:

1. How do you deal with 'friendly fire' and area spells? Especially mindaffecting spells that require a willsave. (the wizard casted colorspray at two enemies but one friendly PC also was in the affected area - is the PC also affected and has to roll the willsave?)

2. Is there any way to deal nonlethal damage (with penalties of course) with martial weapons - in our case with arrows? We decided no, but anyone saw 'house of the flying daggers'? Or imagine a shot in the knee!

3. Run - quadruple speed - stops immediately when the running person reaches and area with only halfspeed movement, right?

Yes, it's an area spell. Unless it specifies sifferent effects for allies and enemies it affect everyone equally.

I haven't seen HoFD yet, but I'd say a shot in the knee would definitely be normal hp damage. Quite possibly even the last of your hitpoints...

Right (except that it's tripple speed if you are wearing heavy armour).

Nonlethal Damage with a Weapon that Deals Lethal Damage

You can use a melee weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage instead, but you take a -4 penalty on your attack roll.
Lethal Damage with a Weapon that Deals Nonlethal Damage

You can use a weapon that deals nonlethal damage, including an unarmed strike, to deal lethal damage instead, but you take a -4 penalty on your attack roll.

well i searched for myself.. and i guess you cant deal nonlethal damage with ranged attacks

is there any option to nail someone to a wall or something else?

(in HoFD one is shooting four enemies with a single manyshot by just hitting them at there shirts above their shoulders to bring them to a prone position - it's great  )

Don't they have Blunt arrows that do subdual? Or is it bludgeon damage? They had them in OA in 2E.
I don't know offhand, but I seem to remember the bludgeoning arrows. Anyway, I didn't see them in my books so I just asked the DM.
