Miniatures Handbook - Energy Affinity and Sudden Energy Affinity

First Post
According to the Miniatures Handbook, when casting a spell using the Energy Affinity feat, the spell cast "uses a spell slot of the spell's normal level." (pg. 25)

Then we have the Sudden Energy Affinity feat, where, once per day, the spellcaster can cast a spell and apply Energy Affinity to it "without increasing the level of the spell or specially preparing for it ahead of time." (pg. 28)

First off, it does not make it at all clear that, if you are a spellcaster who needs to prepare spells in advance (a Wizard, for example) that you need to memorize "Acid-Ball" instead of "Fireball."

Second, what of spontaneous spellcasters like Warmages and Sorcerers. Does the Sudden Energy Affinity feat give those types of casters any type of enhancement?

A wizard needs to prepare an "Acidball" in advance, if he has the Energy Affinity feat. A wizard may cast one "Acidball" per day without having to prepare it in advance if he has the Sudden Energy Affinity feat.

For spontaneous casters, I think Sudden Metamagic feats are still useful. Not having to spend a full round action casting a Metamagicked spell will rarely save the sorcerer from death, but it has its uses.
