Mini's

You really can't beat Reaper for most character miniatures or specialty monsters. They have familiar packs too, and other small things like that. I was going to buy one the other week.

The D&D Mini's are good for those D&D specific creatures, though Reaper has a lot of them as well. Check eBay and you can find lots of D&D monster though, I bought 20 Kobald warriors, 2 large Air Elementals, & 6 Lizard men for about 12 bucks plus shipping in total. The only thing I don't like about the D&D mini's is the sometimes inconsistant scale across sets, and the paint jobs which are adaquate, but really look poor compared to a moderately well painted figure. I enjoy painting figs but time for the next few months is tight so I can't paint as much as I want to. However there is nothing better than seeing the players jaws drop when I whip out a new monster that I had painted and put it on the mat for battle.

So my view is paint the important stuff and buy the small stuff from the D&D sets.

For cheap plastic zombies, try Twilight Creations. They do bags of 100. They also do bags of zombie dogs and they'll probably be doing skeletons too in a few months.

For metal minis of normal animals (lions, camels, cows, goats etc), try various wargames mini makers.

While they don't offer specifically what your looking for, Magnificent Ego produces a great line of unique miniatures that you won't find anywhere else. They also have a license for Nodwick, Dorkness Rising, and Iron Heroes. Check out their website at http://www.magnificentegos.com

The real question is where's the license for Denizens of Avandu? And for a while they did stuff for Bastion Press too.

Reaper has a bunch of familiar blister packs that represent tiny creatures of all sorts.

Yup; across all of those, Hapless should be able to find most, if not all, of the critters he mentioned.

Reaper's got a "Fantasy Fig Finder" on their website, which you can use to browse their offerings. It's at:

http://www.reapermini.com/?nav=Models&sub=Fantasy Fig Finder

Selecting on "Animal" under "Race" should show you all the Familiar packs. They've also got packs with bigger animals (wolves, etc.)

I know. Go figure Ral Partha went outa buesness...they had a sweet, cheap animal pack from what I remember that had everything I wanted.

Iron Wind Metals has the rights to most, if not all, of the old Ral Partha catalog, and has been re-releasing many of the old RP minis:

Hope this helps.
