Minority Report

Saw Minority report today. It was OK. The setting and premise was excellent, but I was dissapointed that they used it to tell a very standard who-dunnit.

I wonder what they used from P.K. Dick's story? just the premise, or more?

I liked this one a lot. A nice exploration of its central conceit (the use of precognitives in crime) and a good twisty plot, though by the end certain characters ignored the grit that were on their characters at the start of the movie a little too easily, that was a minor flaw in my eyes.

Highly recommended, especially if you think recent SF/blockbusters have been a little too kiddy/teen oriented.

Throw me in the "okay" camp.

I could have done without the goofy scenes.

There was a plot hole big enough to drive a Mack truck through.

I did like the concept, and it was a fun little piece, if nothing spectacular.

I'll also say "okay".

Too many inconsistencies in the plot.
Too much silly stuff in a serious story.
I didn't buy Tom Cruise as a dark hero.
Action scenes seemed a little slow-paced to me.
All the product placement stuff irritated me.

However, it had a terrific premise that made up for many of its flaws, especially in the current political climate of the United States.

It was pretty good, although the pacing was kinda herky-jerky at times, and there were a few plot holes, as someone already mentioned.

It was an interesting mix of Old Spielberg and New Spielberg. Meaning, there were plenty of disturbing moments and creepy set pieces like AI and Private Ryan, along with more light-hearted action and gags, ala Indiana Jones or ET.

Kubrick's influence on him can still be felt, too. The cinematography. The over-the-top characters mixed in with banal ones.

Curious design issue: with all this high technology, why are the names of the murderer and the victim etched into wooden balls?

Now that Stevie doesn't shy away form sex, violence and cussing, he's become the kind of filmmaker I always knew he could be......James Cameron. Yuk yuk.:D

They mentioned that the veins of the wood made forgery impossible.

I think that was the point, looking at all the adverts was ment to be irritated. You imagine a world where all the adverts call out your name, thats irritating.

i liked the cinematography and the movie's vision of the future, but the plot! oh my. some serious plot inconsistencies and holes there.

good movie to look at; just don't think about it too much... ;)
