MiPS Lost Mine Part II

Toben comes in from the kitchen area, looking rather unkempt 'Goblins? I heard there was a group outside of town possibly living in a cave. Other than that, your best best would have been to ask Grat or even Reidoth the druid, if you can find him.
'Grat probably won't return for several days as he wanders a bit. If you wan to try to find Reidoth, I'd ask the Alderleafs. They're friends of his.'

Having finished breakfast, Eddicus thanks Toben for the information about the Alderleafs' knowledge about the druid Reidoth, then stands and, with the others who are going along, heads out into the morning air to visit the provisioners first, and then Sister Garaele. Leonan, quick and independent, gets to the provisioners before the rest of the party.

At the store, Eddicus buys a shiny new dagger of good quality and balanced heft that is suitable for throwing. [2 GP. The price doubled from 4E.]
OOC: Eddicus is not planning on doing a lot of talking with Elmar this time, because they already talked a bit the previous afternoon. When the situation changes and either of them might have new information, maybe then.

'First, me cousin claims he's talkin' to critters, and now the inkeeper says we should talk to a druid. How much nature can one dwarf take in?' Vottr thinks to himself. But if that's what it took to rescue Gundren, then that's what he'd do.

"Where can we find the Alderleafs?" he asks the innkeeper.

[/section]With the others looking to head in multiple directions, Castagyr stayed at the inn for the moment. He had no need for more provisions, at least not until they first knew where they were going when they left town.

“I shall meet you here, Eddicus, when you return to go visit with the Sister.”

He stayed with Vottr and heard where to find the Alderleafs. He did not comment on the nature of dwarves and nature, talking more with the innkeeper instead.

“Ahh, since I missed my chance to talk with the traveling bard, mayhap the druid would a good alternative. Thank you, Toben. What do the Alderleafs do?”

“Also is there a Constable or someone similar in this village? I would like to speak with them too or whoever would be the next best thing.”

Brlo went along to the provisioners but could add nothing to the conversation. He fiddled with some of the climbing equipment and admired the selection of rope before getting bored. Without drawing attention to himself he ducked out and headed into the hills.

Some alone time is what I need. By Moradin's beard I want to get my head around this animal thing. Vottr's a fine and upstanding dwarf - he's never going to understand.

Brlo took his time walking, examining the game trails and routes where larger groups might have passed uphill. Must be a bigger group that could keep Uncle Gundren under wraps - he's a right tough one!

"When we get back from Barthen's, I'll walk with ye to check on the sister and then we can visit the Alderleafs," Vottr suggests. "Maybe they have some big strapping lads we can recruit for muscle." He heads for the door after Eddicus and Brlo.

He inspects the wares as Eddicus purchases new daggers and fails to notice Brlo slip away. "Dagnabbit! Where'd ye get off to now, Cuz?" he mutters once he realizes his cousin is gone.

Castagyr: Toben looks at you strangely 'That's right, I apologize, I keep forgetting you folk are new here. The alderleafs are farmers, mostly. Good, solid Halflings alway out to help another. As for a constable, Harbin Wester is our elected townmaster. I guess he's the closest thing we've got.'
One of the serving girls approaches and says harshly 'He just barely qualifies as a man, much less a constable. Else he'd a done something about these so-called Redbrands by now.'
'Now Els, settle down'
'WILL NOT! If he won't do it, maybe we talk with Daran Edermath, the orchard keeper, he's a former adventurer. I bet he could take them.'
Just then, another woman comes in, this one a bit older. 'Now, Els, you saw what happened to Thel when he tried to stand up to the Redbrands. They came by his shop and leered at his wife. He tried to stand up to them and they murdered him where he stood. Several townsfolk saw it happen. The Redbrands grabbed his body, and now his wife, daughter, and son have gone missing too. It's too much to ask.'
Toben looks at the remainder of the group 'Sorry, folks. don't mean to bring our problems into yours. seems like you got enough already.' He turns to the older woman 'Come, Trilena my dear. Let us leave these good people to their breakfast.'
With that, all three leave and only a minute later, Sildar comes down the stairs. 'Well, Ivans gone. Left this,' he tosses a piece of parchment onto the table. 'I'll be going to the town hall if you need me. Seems high time the Lords’ Alliance got some order to this place. good day.'

Dear folk,
I cannot see goblins freed and men captured with nothing to show for it. I am going to make my way back to that cave and search it top to bottom. If I find anything helpful, I'll pass it along.
Until we meet again, Ivan.

OOC: This taking of wife and children should immediately go to the top of the task list. If Leonan hears about it, he will forget about some old dwarf rescue. It strikes a chord within a bard because of his history :)
