Missing Deities?

I have yet to read the book, but im told they left out the Celtic gods? is this true? damn....those are the ones i like the best.
You could probably grep most of the Celtic gods off of the Norse gods and adapt them to suit; there is a lot of overlap/cultural sharing between the 2 mythologies.

I just got a copy of Deities and Demigods and I have a question.....

Why are some of the Greyhawk Deities missing? Deities like Rao, Pholtus, and (my all time favorite) Trithereon.

Another one of my disappointments was the lack of information on the Churches (along with prestiege classes involved), I had hoped to use this to work on the Churches.

Oh well, just another disappointment from Wizards. I am used to it.

Ghoti, the ghoti-man.
Rao and Pholtus both are in Dragon 294 along with Tharizdun and Iuz.

Trithereon is one of my favorite gods too, and he's unique enough to make it difficult to grep a god from one of the other pantheons. He would make a good subject for playing around with making a god though.....

The D&D default pantheon in the PHB is culled/derived from the many many gods in the multitudinous Greyhawk pantheons (remember there are several pantheon's of human gods and they drew from them wily nily; frex Wee Jas is a Suel god, Nerull and Boccob are Flan/Common IIRC).

Bearing that in mind, I find the default pantheon to be arranged oddly across the alignments, and Rogues in particular get little choice in thier god options. Also, as someone else noted the lack of a mercantile god such as Zilchus is telling, and also lacking is a god of the sea. Its very obvious that the classes were chosen for adventuring characters for the most part, which I suppose was the point, but which left some strange holes in the pantheons cosmology.

Cyronax, wasn't moonbow introduced in the realms? I thought the original elvish pantheon was introduced in dragon and then placed int UA but I did not think it contained her. I thought she was from the realms Demihuman deities 2e supplement.

Yes, Sehanine Moonbow is an elven deity, and therefore in the FRCS (they got most members of the Seldarine, if not all). I think she will be in Faiths and Pantheons (though she'll probably only get a short entry)

To be precise, Sehanine Moonbow was introduced in the 2e supplement Monstrous Mythology by Carl Sargent.

Personally, I think it was a good idea to include as few deities and pantheons as possible in DDG. The book spends quite a bit of space showing how to construct individual deities and entire pantheons for use in each DM's campaign. It's quiet sensible to count on the fact that individual DMs will detail the "missing" deities, and construct their own favorite pantheons. New deities and pantheons also can be introduced through web enhancements and Dragon articles. The rules and guidelines for deific creation and use of deities in a campaign are much more difficult to introduce in this manner, and as such could not have been cut from the book.

How much Str does Tor's belt give him?
And how dangerous is Mjölner/Mjolnir?

The Belt flat doubles his strength, for a total of 92.

Mjolnir is possibly the ultimate weapon. For starters, it weight 2 tons so only Thor can even wield it. Also, if you dont wear Thors gauntlets you take 4d8 points of Con dmg/rnd you hold it. Thor can throw it at any target he sees regardless of distance.

It is a +5 Chaotic Distance Ghost Touch Holy Mighty Cleaving Returning Thundering Warhammer that inflicts 116 melee damage, 98 ranged damage (with a x3 crit multiple) in Thors hands, and forces a DC 55 Fort check to resist permanent deafness on the target if a crit is scored (and since Thor is a Greater God he always rolls a 20 to hit; I imaging he will confirm when adding +109 to his top attack).

He does not always roll a 20 to hit. He gets his values maximized, but that's not automatically a threat, so he still has to make the attack roll to see if he scores a threat (but that should always come to an actual crit, since Thor almost always hits with attack bonus.

Since Iuz and Sehanine are pretty Oerth specific, given their interests in specific countries in the Flanaess (Iuz with his empire and Sehanine with the Lendore Isles), these two are not necessary for a non-Greyhawk pantheon.

Actually Sehanine moonbow, is pretty major in the Forgotten Realms too, being an important member of the Elven Seldarine... as such if the Elven gods are included in Faiths and Pantheons, she may well make an appearance there?

Sehanine will be in Faiths and Pantheons, though after all I heard about her and her activities on Oerth, she will be portrayed differently than in Grayhawk! In the Realms, Sehanine Moonbowis a patroness of the moon elves (they even are named after her), and Corellon specially represents the sun elves. As the moon elves are the most tolerant of the elven races, I think so is she.

I never meant to impy that Sehanine was totally Oerth specific. I was merely pointing out her importance to Oerth in the D&D Gazeteer, which is considered to be "the" D&D setting. Not LGG, FR, or Kalamar.

GH and FR share the vast majority of the racial gods, while still being different for each world.
