MM IV Details

All that 3.x stuff you currently have won't match the MMIV. That's my complaint.

Does that really matter all that much? If I can still find the information I need within 20 seconds of looking at the statblock then I can't say that one is really any more or less useful or pleasing than the other. If it's a case of asthetics, that's one thing. If it's just a case of not having things match up, well given how much WOTC's covers, interior art, writing, and overall quality tend to fluctuate, I can't really see that a statblock makes much of an impact there.

For those wanting to take a closer look at the new stats block, WotC's website is highlighting the new format in its latest D&D Fight Club article.

Geez, and I thought I was bad for adding templates. :p

It looks like this particular set of stat blocks does not break out the AC like others had hoped.

To each their own, then. I guess it just matters more to me.

Keep in mind that this is a creature forum, so the people around these parts like myself are extra-sensitive when it comes to monsters. :)

it matters to Shade and I more than most people, because we have spent, and intend to continue to spend, mucho time with the stat blocks as we have them. the changes from 3.0 format to 3.5 format were welcome once we got used to them, but the new stat block is a big departure and will take a lot more getting used to.

i suppose that if we didn't maintain the Creature Catalog, do editing work for XRP's Monster Geographica line, and write monster articles for Dragon magazine when they let us, we probably wouldn't care about a change in monster stat blocks.

Ha! True. I concede the point there. Keep up the good work, by the way!

I agree with the aforementioned sentiment - the new stat blocks suck. They're an eyesore, and they don't get all the material of the "old" ones. I've been making monsters for a long time now, and I know the old statblocks like the back of my hand. I don't know how much of my distaste is aesthetic, but I don't like 'em anyway.

Demiurge out.
