Modified Paragon Multiclassing

I thought exactly the same thing, and posted stuff a while back in keterys's thread. I think it's best to specify what they get--i.e., make them full-blown paragon paths.

I agree. It is a little more work, but making paragon paths for each multiclass is probably the way to go.

Yeah, and they're not _that_ hard to make - I like the idea of 'spend an action point to get a MC encounter power back' for a common ability, I think you could probably do an at-will instead of the level 11 'feature' as another option...

But yeah, I think we'll be swimming in multiclass paragon paths much like we were in prestige classes... but at least they're easier to make and balance (I think)

'Arcane Trickster' paragon path
Feature: +1d6 damage with combat advantage
Action: When you spend an action point, you turn invisible until the start of your next turn.
11th encounter
12th utility
Feature: If you cast a close spell, you are concealed until the start of your next turn.
20th daily'
etc.

Oh, and another idea I'd put together elseboard... that doesn't touch features cause I don't know a way to do them that isn't manual per path you make:

11th:
Multiclass Feature: You gain an at-will power from your multiclass.
Action: You may spend an action point to recharge a multiclass encounter power.
Encounter: You gain another 7th level encounter slot. You also gain the ability to swap a second encounter power to your multiclass (as the multiclass feats)

12th:
Utility: You gain another 10th level utility slot. You also gain the ability to swap a second utility power to your multiclass (as the multiclass feats)

16th:
Feature: Once per encounter, you may use your multiclass at-will as a free action after using an at-will from your primary class.

20th:
Daily: You gain another 19th level daily slot. You also gain the ability to swap a second daily power to your multiclass (as the multiclass feats).

I'd much prefer to be swimming in options than either of the alternatives: bland "mystic theurge" technical-numbers classes, or else one very flavorful option which leaves anyone who wanted a different flavor out cold.

'Arcane Trickster' paragon path

etc.

I don't think that would be either desirable or necessary though.

You only need to create one 'paragon multiclassing' path for each class, so at the end of the Ranger you include "Paragon Multiclass" with the prereqs being 'not a ranger' (and optionally including the heroic multiclass feats if a greater investment first is desired).

Then the 'Ranger Paragon Multiclass' would be used by *anyone* who wanted to have a full multiclass into Ranger

Heh, I think you're being a little optimistic there Plane Sailing.

That said, I welcome seeing the myriad of options people come up. Should be interesting.
