OK. I'm not liking how this new way of handling the sign ups is working out. Does anyone want me to revert to the old, we-know-that-it-works method? :)

GM sign-ups or players? I'm still confused as to what's being run. How about updating the CMG Game Day site with the current info? It'd be easier for me to commit to someone's game if I knew what my options were.

Yeah, Mark, I think maybe folks are holding back because they'd rather play. If I can confirm for sure I can come (we're supposed to be moving right around that same time) and buzz decides for sure he won't GM a Dark*Matter game, and nobody else steps forward to run Mutants and Masterminds, I might even (purely out of desperation; I don't run one-shots all that well) sign up to run something. But I don't want to until I know I have to, because I'd rather play.

Yup. See. That was the difference. I wasn't going to add games to the schedule until they had a few people committed but it seems I have out thunk myself. :D

Maybe the first post in this thread didn't explain that clearly enough...? :)

Let's get a few more opinions on this but I am leaning toward returning to the old ways that I know workd and worked well.

Anyone else..?

yeah, maybe reverting to the old format's a good idea. I'm going to play a 3e game, but wanted to see what was going to be offered first. I think it works better knowing what DMs are willing to run because that's the hard part. Showing up and playing isn't hard at all (by comparison).

Mark,

While I understand why you tried a new method for game recruitment, this did not work.

This method was confusing, the event is two weeks away and we don't know who is attending, which I think is the largest downfall of the DM/GM shortage. A list of games suggested would be great, I actually only found 2 or three in the threads. I wanted to run but since a friends dad died, I cannot attend. I will definitely run at the next one.

Good Luck everyone.

I also vote that you simply revert to the old method, Mark. Like Josh, I may (also out of desperation) volunteer to run a game, but I'd much rather play since I'm almost exclusively DM for our group. My urge to play the game instead of running the game must be fulfilled :D!!

Besides, if you ultimately DM a game Mark, I can attempt to live up to Mardnab's antics from Crothian's version of Whispering Woodwinds with another PC for a CMG adventure :p.

I don't think this worked entirely badly, but the timing was off. After a few weeks of player call I got bored and haven't kept up, i'll bet others did the same. A few weeks player call, then do DM call and make sure you list the games in the first post. Then players can say which games they'll join. Hopefully we'll have less empty games because by then DM's know what everyone wants.

Oh, BTW, put me on the first page for running a game of Spycraft. Lets say 5th level-ish since the system is a little new to me. 4-5 players only. I MAY be GC'ing Gun Runners a module from Modus Operandi that got very good reviews, if it's short/good enough. Anyone interested; we will be doing requisition of equipment prior to the game via email, to save time. No MAG stuff since I don't have it (unless phbartender lends it to me), maybe Shadowforce Archer stuff. My SFA is in the mail now. Anyone interested email me at mostholycerebus@yahoo.com
