Is there any eratta make this attack a melee attack or is it still a touch attack?.

i believe it's still a touch attack (it's not mentioned in the D&DFAQ or the MM errata)

Why do you think the tongue should not be a touch attack? It's a supernatural ability (paralysis), not a natural weapon like a claw or bite.

It's the only melee touch attack used by a corporeal creature that I can recall - unlike wraiths, shadows, spectres, ghosts.

If a character is wearing fullplate armor and a large shield and it rolls a 15 total to attack it hits, well what happened to the physical armor stopping "you" being touched by the physical tongue?.

Any time someone casts vampiric touch on you, that's a melee touch attack used by a corporeal creature.

If a character is wearing fullplate armor and a large shield and it rolls a 15 total to attack it hits, well what happened to the physical armor stopping "you" being touched by the physical tongue?.

The physical armour obviously doesn't work against tongues, just as it doesn't work against the vampiric touch.

They're not common, but such touch attacks are used to represent attacks that can worm their way past armor rather than having to penetrate it.

I believe that it would be a ranged touch attack.
