"Moisture-damaged" CoC d20 books might not be...

Its not a problem, its a feature.
The books were purpousfully caused to warp to make the book seem older and thus more evil. Therefore, only those privilaged enough to get the wobble edition can experience the authentic looking 'water damage' in your CoC play. Thank you.

Mine has a "wobble". I bought it in a comic/game store in New Orleans, La. It's no big deal, but now that I think of it, this book cost $40 plus tax. It should be perfect.

The copies with wobbles were in boxes set too close to the shoggoth pit. That's not moisture. It's goo.

Sorry about that.

Really sorry about the fact that the goo will probably turn into a shoggoth in the next few weeks.

Really, really sorry that if you've examined your book closely enough to determine whether or not there is wobble or not, it's too late for you.

I tasted the goo. Is that bad?

Monte, why are my elbows growing eyes?

I suppose there's not an ointment for this.

Oh, well. at least I'll never be surprised from behind, anymore.

I am not a printing expert by any means, but could the "wobble" be at least partially caused by the type of paper WotC is using? I've noticed wobble in only one other WotC book I own: my copy of Oriental Adventures.

It seems like the paper in the "higher end" books is somewhat different from the paper used in the core books. I seem to recall that many people had moisture-related problems with the FRCS.

It seems like books that moved through various distribution channels have the same problem. As another poster suggested, could this be a problem at the printers? Is this a factor of paper so porous that it wicks up moisture like a sponge?

BTW, I'm the guy who posted the first unsightly rant about "wobble"? My CoC d20 seems to be responding reasonably well to a very dry room and a massive "RPG book press" (every heavy book I own piled on top of CoC d20).

Hey, I got mine from work (the WotC corporate office), and it has the same wobble. Now, my job has nothing to do with the books, but my thought on the subject is that this is a trait of high gloss color pages. Maybe they used too much ink or chemicals that cause the gloss.

It is pretty strange though.
