"Moisture-damaged" CoC d20 books might not be...

Perhaps the "wobble" versions were those that were printed and packed in Rye'leigh. Would explain alot of things... ;)

That's a terrible thing to say about Rye'leigh, the spacious and beautiful capital of North Carolina.

Yes, up here in Calgary, AB, my copy of CoC has the wobble. And I'm none too impressed considering how much this book cost me.

True, but it usually takes them a while to get that way. When the books are still brand-spanking-new - wrapped in plastic, even - and they wobble enough that the cover doesn't quite close, you've gotta wonder. Besides, I've had my PHB for quite a while, and it's still wobble-free - so it can't be my environment that's too humid. ;)

(Oh, and it wouldn't be the "the paper WotC is using" - as far as I'm aware, WotC subcontracts the printing of their books, and that includes paper and all, so paper would again be a printing flaw.)

I haven't seen the book myself, but from the description of the symptoms I'd say that the WOBBLE is caused by the glue on the spine of the book. During the bookbinding process, when the pages are laid down together, they are sans WOBBLE. As the glue cools, it shrinks slightly, which puts tension on the paper and gives you the characteristic WOBBLE.

As for the books WITHOUT the wobble, they are baby mimics that have had their sticky exterior washed off with a strong alcohol solution. You should destroy these books immediately. On the plus side: you should get at least a couple of XP for killing a baby mimic.

Whenever I use the laser printer at my school for anything graphical, the page kinds of curves into the bits with the most ink.
