Chapter 4 of the hilarious Game Night has been posted!
The Warrior taps his fingers upon the table's marble surface. “What would have happened if we had arrived in two groups?”
The AllFather frowns. “Well you'd have arrived in two groups. I'm not quite sure I understand what you are saying.”
“Would we have had three questions per group?”
“Well, yes. I suppose that is what would have happened. But you didn't arrive in two groups, did you?”
The Warrior sits back in his chair, and looks around at his fellow gods, indicating with a wave that any of them should feel free to join in.
It is the Lady who takes up his offer. “That does seem a bit arbitrary.”
“I have to agree,” adds the Dealer. “After all, what's his motivation? You are saying that he will defend to the death the principle that he will give us only three answers – and yet if Tallenna and Yann had continued watching from the flanking cover for five more minutes before entering the house he would have given them three further questions.”
“Well not if they'd turned up five minutes later!”
“Well how long then?” demands the Warrior. “Ten minutes? An hour? A day? What's the reset period?”
“Reset period? Look, you turned up in one group, so three questions is all you get, and that's that.”
The Dealer breaks the resulting silence. “And I'm also troubled by the way that he tricked us into wasting our questions. It seems malevolent, cruel even.”
“It's what he does. It's his role in the world.”
“Seems a strange role,” the Jester remarks. “So what's the odds of three more questions?”
