(Mongoose) Babylon 5 Release Schedule

Hi guys,

There comes a time when we have to just hold our hands up and say 'this is the way things are.' I am, of course, talking about the release schedule of the new Babylon 5 RPG line.

There is something of a joke among licensors that a very real Babylon Curse exists for these projects - no matter what safeguards are taken, something always seems to conspire against any work that has 'Babylon 5' as part of its title. The RPG has been no exception. However, we thought we had it licked. The rulebook was good and ready to go at the beginning of this year and the supplements were well in hand. We had produced nearly 100 books before Babylon 5 was due for release. We thought we had seen it all.

Unfortunately, we have had a succession of problems, minor and major, that have consistently conspired to throw a multitude of spanners into the works. All seemed to have just one aim in mind - to delay the release of the Babylon 5 RPG! Not one of our other lines were touched by these problems. Hmm. . .

I am not a superstitious person by nature, but the Babylon Curse seems to be a very real thing! However, it is also clear that Faith Manages. Not much longer to wait now, I promise.

We are officially knocking back the release schedule of all B5 titles by approximately two months. So, the main rulebook and Fiery Trial now have a release date of July (should be sometime in the middle, but remember that Babylon Curse - it would no longer surprise me if a Vorlon fleet swooped down from the sky and confiscated a whole truckload full of these books), Coming of Shadows will be out in August and the Earth Alliance Fact Book (which is turning into a _stunning_ hardback supplement) will be due early September.

Still, they say the best things are worth waiting for. . .

Be seeing you,

The first three editions of the Babylon 5 RPG were each lost long before the final manuscript was ready. The fourth edition of the Babylon 5 RPG was at the printers, when the printing building itself vanished under mysterious circumstances.

I think a variation of the MAN'S PRAYER* is in order here:

I am a Babylon-5 fan.
I can wait.
If I have to.
I guess.

* The Man's Prayer is from the PBS show "The Red Green Show" -- it goes: I am a man. I can change. If I have to. I guess.

I just saw this thread and thought the same thing. Lizard, you beat me to posting it. :D

Well at least I have more time to save up the money for B5. I've been looking forward to this since you announced it.

Don't joke about it :)

Well, I've been waiting years for a good B5 RPG. I suppose I can stand to wait another month. Things must really be going haywire. I'm a firm believer in the B5 Curse, which is unfortunate, considering it was the best science fiction show on TV IMO.

- Chameleon Entertainment had the rights to the B5 RPG
- Precedence Entertainment had the rights to the B5 CCG
- Agents of Gaming had the right to the B5 wargame

All where destroyed, now it's time for Mongoose Publishing to produce the B5 RPG. And see here puny earthling, it's time shifting...

;-)

Just kidding of course. But after just having finished watching the second season on DVD i was once again highly impressed with a lot of the designs in the series. Especially the ships are beautiful (i really dig the Narn G'Quan Heavy Cruiser).

So i was wondering with the 'sudden death' of Agents of Gaming on the 31st October 2002, did MGP also get the liscence to produce minis (and possibly a wargame)? If so when can we expect ship minis? Any possibility of using the AoG molds?

Don't forget the Babylon 5 combat sim ("Babylon 5: Into the Fire") that was canceled by Sierra. Had a chance to play the demo at GenCon the year it was supposed to released...looked like it was going to be a good game.
