Mongoose gets Babylon 5 license

Hmm good point. As much as I have disliked mongooses stuuuff in the past I might just have to pick up the first B5 book and see how it does. I can always replace rules if I need to, and I can ignore Mongooses minor editing problems. I guess it really depends on the writer.

Well it really depends on what Mongoose products you are talking about. I think there will be a slight difference between the Slayers guide to Hobgoblins and B5 for instance. I think you'd have to look at Judge Dread and Slaine as the only things Mongoose has put out that can really give you an idea on how B5 will be.

Well, personally, I don't have any problem with Mongoose. Admittedly, the only products I own are Slayer's Guide to Gnolls and Encyclopaedia Arcane: Chaos Magic. I would've done Gnolls differently, but I like their take, and Chaos Magic rocked my world. :D

This really excites me. B5 is my favorite television series, and I'm glad to see it revived. The original RPG fell kinda flat in most areas. This should breathe new life into the series, and maybe I can finally run my Proxima campaign.

And they called themselves fans!!! HA!!! Any real fan of the series knows it and calls it by it's rightful name!! BAB5!!!

*inno*

Anyways though, kewl, bout time to see this, just hope they don't screw it up.

It only has a BAB +5? Man, I thought the show got more levels than that before it finished. :P

Anyway, for my take... I had been hoping it'd turn out to be Stargate, but B5's great, too. Congrats, Matt et al!

I still have notes for a Black Omega game laying around someplace. Not really planning on using d20 for it, but the Mongoose books would be good source material.

A Ranger game is bound to be a very common game, but I'm drawn more to PsiCorp. You do need to balance them in a grey area for it to work though. Most of the series we just see Bester, who knows or is involved in all the black projects of PsiCorp. Most teeps The are bound to be plenty of evil teeps. the series showed how good they would be at terrorism and blackmail. Besides, I can use Lyta as the big baddie. That has a certain appeal.:)

Well, for the first two seasons most of our exposure to telepaths was through Talia Winters, who was a pretty nice girl. There was also the episode in 5th season when we saw things from the PoV of the Corps (The Corps is Mother, The Corps is Father) where even Bester seemed like a rather nice fellow, with the exception of the last minute or so.

Oh, and in Dust to Dust (3rd season) Bester helped out pretty well, again having his positive image spoiled in the last minute or so.

And the first season Eyes episode where PsiCorp teep Harriman Gray helps out in a big way. Even Lyta Alexander starts out pretty nice. The Corps is Mother, The Corps is Father as excellent in that it did show a moral side of Bester never really seen otherwise.

I for one don't see Bester as a true villain. He was certainly cynical, looking out for the corp's best interest, and not always pleasant to be around. OK, messing with Garibaldi's head wasn't so nice, but it served a greater purpose for both the corps and Garibaldi, so...

On the other hand Lyta is the perfect example of what can happen when telepaths aren't regulated. Yep, they definitely set up an interesting conundrum here.

This is just one of the reasons I love B5. In many cases there are no easy answers. The characters must pick the side that seems right at the time and then deal with the consequences.

I wasn't so shocked by "spacing the mundane". I mean aside from Contributing to the Deliquency of an Insane Psi, he was the one who murdered the other psicop cadet, remember? The way a lot of people seem to roleplay, an instant death when there was no doubt of his guilt would be, what, true neutral? Lawful since they did have jurisdiction?

heh, I've managed to irk a few people with my theory that besters 'tweaking' of garibaldi was more morally defensible than the way sheridan used the 'teepsicles' against earthforce. Overall, I'd be very disapointed if the game made the Corps 'officially evil'. Individual GMs can certainly shift their moral focus in the game, just like some D20 modern games will have the characters aiding the police to take out criminals and some may have them running from the evil crooked cops and their fascist agenda...

This is why Bester is evil, I really wish we got to see a final confrantion with Bester and Garibaldi in the show, instead of reading it in the psi corp triolgy. also.................. [possible spoilers]............

In crusade and the legend of the rangers movie, it is impliled that Lyta died and somehow changed telepaths. In legend of rangers, G'kar says "she is gone now", take place 2 years before crusade. It its also never explained in Crusade why the teep XO is not wearing gloves, so something happened, and i bet Lyta had alot to do with it. I don't think the Psi corps is evil, but Bester definatly is. Garabaldi is one of my favorite characters from the series.
