"without a doubt, Babylon 5 is the greatest science fiction epic yet created."
Clearly, a press release writer has been taking hyperbole lessons.
It will be interesting to see though.
Well... I'll play Devil's Advocate.
An epic usually involves a hero engaging in a long over-arcing struggle or journey; said struggle/journey is usually beyond the ordinary in size and scale.
Star Trek isn't epic, though it's interesting at times, and has had some great, perhaps Epic, moments.
Star Wars? Hm, though big and successful, you have to buy into the claim that it's all "Darth Vader's story" to make it fit the Epic mold. Though the first trilogy may be cool, and may be Luke's epic, the whole thing suffers from the years that passed between the trilogies, and changes in direction that occured on Lucas' part.
Babylon 5, at the very least, has a claim to "greatest science fiction epic" at least for a TV series. Whether it's de facto the greatest is probably a matter of taste, really.
