Hi guys,
Capellan: For once, it ain't UK based :)

Lone Wolf and Conan the Barbarian back in RPG form... GREAT! Any chances to see these games translated into Italian? I received an announcement about Italian editions of some of the books of the Encyclopedia Arcana series, but so far they haven't materialized (if they had been produced in pdf form only, I don't know ) so I have doubts about seeing Mongosse Publishing products in my language but, hey, let's leave a guy his hopes 8-)

About the big sci fi property, what about Battlestar Galactica? If Mongoose does this, well, I'll be overjoyed...

...not to mention future reviews for KaosOnLine

Battlestar Galactica is another one that I really am not sure how much true game potential there is... More than lost in space, that's for sure...

But Stargate SG-1 has game potential comming out the ears. It's practicly set up like a series of gaming sessions!

Rumor has it that someone one bought the gaming rights to my all time favorite tv show - Babylon5

For awhile I was going to help with a fan website but then things kinda went dim. Hmmmm........

Of course some of the other mentioned would be fantastic rpgs - I used to play Fringeworthy (SG-1: I think there was a lawsuit involved)and loved it. SG1 just screams to be an RPG, and in the sci-fi arena would probably make the best overall RPG.

The sad part is, I was a full-blown Buck Rogers fan back then. I named my dog Tweeky, even. hehe Now granted, the show was low, yes. And Gil Gerard and Erin Gray aren't the best actors in the world, and the plots were tres weak.. but it was better than the redux when they left earth for the space ship (only saving grace: That killer-cool hawk-guy).

Yeah, SG-1 is practically a weekly Story Hour from someone's game. Get a mission, go, defeat the whatever, come back. It still bugs me like crazy that the Gua-ould (sp?) are nothing like the Stargate movie Ra alien, but I still watch the show (waiting for reruns to end). Then again, I miss Daniel, he was my favorite character.

Battlestar Galactica... still hoping a new series pans out, and that at least some of the former stars are hired for it. :) But I can't see gaming in it.

As far as Highlander goes, there is/was a game that was practically Highlander RPG. I think it was called Immortal, and although I never got to play it, I did get to deep-read the book for it, and it looked good. I mean geez, it's not like the series didn't have scads of Immortals running around in friendly groups all the time; Duncan, Methos, Richie, Amanda, etc. etc. It could work, but I don't think d20 could do it, personally.

My bet's still on Stargate. Yeah Matt, tell us if there's a projected announcement date! :)

It's got to be Trek, right? I know that Decipher has the CCG, but are they doing an RPG too? I don't think so, but I might be wrong about that. Trek seems to fit all of the requirements and it would be a bigger property than anything else mentioned in this thread. Just thinking aloud...

There was a released Star Trek game within the last 12 months that hasn't sold very well, and I know at one time WotC had the license for Star Trek but that backfired. I wouldn't mind either, but of all the following:

B5
Stargate
Dune
Star Trek
Highlander

My favorite to play would be, hands down, Dune. Sure Stargate would be fun, but it falls short on a few things with me. Get a mission, go through the gate, meet some strange people, come back home without getting killed. 'nuff said, that would get boring for me after a while.

Highlander, ehhh, not for me. I loved the tv show and some of the movies, but I wouldn't play a rpg about it.

Star Trek, I would purchase it and it would be easy to adventure in. Similar to Stargate if all you do is play Federation. Go on missions, accomplish missions, don't get killed, destroy a few ships, save some aliens, diplomacy and don't go against the prime directive.

B5, since I have personally only seen like 3 episodes of this show, and two of them bored me to tears, I would probably pass on it. However, I am older now than when the show first came out, and I have matured, and if I was able to watch the show from the beginning instead of the end, I would probably like it and would play the game.

Dune. If all you go by is the movie, then it would seem that there isn't enough to go on, but if they went by the books as well, then there is so much to the series that it would be awesome to play in. I think Dune has one of the best settings ever created also.

But, if its not one of these, what else could it be?

Shame on you Mongoose for not saying what it is, now you got us all begging to know, and whatever it is, all of us is going to buy the game because it must be that good.

I'm hoping the secret license is for ERB's John Carter of Mars series - Now THAT would be BIG.

Lots of cool races

super neat monsters

technology is present, but not totally dominant

the magic side of things needs a little boost, but psionics is likely

Dune would be interesting too, but I think the Barsoom Campaign would be a huge hit!
