(Mongoose) Licences and RPGs

Hard to think of all the sci-fi shows that also had a movie (or vice-versa), other than the obvious, Stargate.

Mystery Science Theater 3000! It's science fiction, not from the UK, and there was a movie.

Alien Nation. Probably not.

Poltergeist. Probably not (more horror)

Friday the 13th. Again, probably not.

Battlestar Galactica. Probably not (not really a movie. The pilot was release in theaters, so maybe)

Total Recall. Series was on Showtime, I think. Not sure how it could be an RPG.

Twilight Zone/ Tales from the Darkside. Again, probably not.

Dr Who - there were a series of movies, but UK based.

Wild Wild West - Most would like to forget the movie.

Lost in Space - Ditto

Tremors - well, the movies aren't that bad. And there is a show coming on the Sci-Fi channel. Not much RPG potential, at least long term.

The Crow - probably not - more fantasy than sci-fi

Buckaroo Banzai - there was a rumored TV show. But just a rumor, I think. So probably not (sigh). But it would be very cool.

He-man - Well, there was a movie (with Dolph Lundgren, IIRC), but already denied.

Flash Gordon was a great movie, and has tons of RPG potential, but I don't think it was ever a series. A-ah.

There were Flash Gordon series - black and white, originally made as cinema shorts, I think, and later transferred to the small screen. BBC2 in the UK used to play them in the early 80s.

The movie was a UK production, but I am not sure where the original strips originated, so I'm not sure which country it qualifies as being "from".

In any case, I doubt it is the intended property. Doesn't have the current profile to justify the hype.

Mind you, if someone were to do Flash Gordon d20, I'd buy it in a heartbeat (or even in a flash, if you can pardon the expression :) ).

Daniel will be back as a regular cast member in the next season. I just thought you might want to know that.
Does that mean that whats-his-name (Parker Lewis) is getting canned (or one of the other core group)? Or are they just going to bite the friggin bullet and let the SG-1 team be 1 member larger? :) Good news, either way though.

I think Daniel is returning in an advisory capacity or maybe Jonas was going to become more of an advisor. I kind of remember reading something of that nature.

A couple of people have mentioned Star Trek. Decipher has already picked up the rights for that.

One of those people was me :) This is cool news, although I wish that Mongoose were doing it :( Regardless, has anybody seen/played this? Is it any good? I actually liked the FASA version quite a bit and I was wondering how this version stacked up?

To not totally hijack this thread, I'll bring it back on topic. If it's not Trek, then my guess is it has to be Dune. I would say B5, but you can't really count those TV movies... Although Transformers is a good guess too.

Mmm...

My vote would be for Twin Peaks, though :D Not really sci-fi though, more like freak-fi.

Other possibilities include Planet of the Apes and Logan's Run - there were (terrible) TV series for both. Still, I'm hoping for B5, after the utter disgrace that was the last version.
