(Mongoose) Licences and RPGs

The sad part is, I was a full-blown Buck Rogers fan back then. I named my dog Tweeky, even. hehe

Uh, I think Hal was referring to the original Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon b&w serials. There are a few of us, including Hal, old enough to remember them.... ;)

The most observant among you will remember that, some time ago, I mentioned that Mongoose had acquired a major licence that a lot of gamers would be very interested in. Perversely, it is neither Conan nor Lone Wolf and, though it is due to be released in May next year, I still cannot mention it at this time, due to contractual reasons - very frustrating! However, I am hoping the gag will be removed very soon, so look for another announcement - I have a feeling you will like this one :)

This paragraph leads me to believe it's a franchise that's still in production in some way. That, linked in with all the other information leads me think it's...

Well, I'm not going to say. I'm trying to get freelance work with Mongoose and I'm not going to do anything that could disfavour me, no matter how remote the chance of earning that disfavour is.

Yes, I'm a coward. :D

I'm hoping the secret license is for ERB's John Carter of Mars series - Now THAT would be BIG.

No one should need a license for a John Carter RPG - the first few books are in the public domain (I don't recall which ones; check Project Gutenberg if you want to know for sure).

Well (unless I'm presuming wrong, which is possible), that would qualify as the Movie part, but you still have the TV series part, which brings us back to Gil Gerad, right?

True. But they did broadcast the b&w serials on TV during the 60's- today so it would also qualify for that criteria. ;)
