(Mongoose) Wraith Recon Announced for 4e

MongooseMatt

First Post
Come this October, Wraith Recon will be launched, bringing a new world to the 4th edition GSL.

Designed specifically for 4th edition, Wraith Recon puts players in the role of advanced special forces, serving the most powerful nation in history. The Kingdom of Dardarrick reigns supreme both magically, and militarily, and its people enjoy a life of wealth and prosperity. However, Dardarrick is beset on all sides by rival nations and dangerous warbands, and there are those within its own society who seek its ruin.

It is the elite Wraith Recon units who provide the first line of defence. Highly trained individuals, they are equipped with the finest magical equipment the military of Dardarrick can supply, linked by the mysterious Spellcom system. They are tasked with all the secret missions that entire armies could never accomplish, and that the common people of Dardarrick will likely never hear about. Able to call upon the mighty Dardarrick military for support, Wraith Recon units perform assassinations, raids, reconnaissance, and hostage rescue missions, all in the name of truth, liberty and justice.

Hmm... Interesting. I guess they are willing to let "fantasy" stretch out a good way to incorporate modern/fantasy hybrids. Thanks, Matt.

We consider Wraith Recon to be pure fantasy.

There are no additional classes or races. It has been designed to be used with just the core rulebooks, if so desired.

A good analogy would be Dark Sun - think of how that took the 'standard' fantasy concepts and turned them on their head. Same thing :)

Is it Wrath Recon or Wraith Recon?
In case of the latter I suggest you give your artist a second go at the cover art.

Anyhow.. sounds very interresting! Too bad it is going to be for 4E... Maybe the fluff is usuable in other settings as well.
A 160 pages does sound a bit thin for a complete setting though. The $20 price on the other hand does make up a lot!

Definitely says "Wrath Recon" on the cover art, but it's "Wraith Recon" everywhere else (including Matt's post). I hope that hasn't been locked down and sent off to the printers just yet!
