Mongooses Assassin

Hi,
A quick question regarding the assassin from mongooses booklet, the rules as follows sneak attack +1D6 (assassination +2D6) Well I was wondering does the damage double up with the Rogues Sneak attack damage or just the assassins class?

I would say ADD !!! Yippeee !!!!

Yo Grish,

After looking thru the class rules, I would say that they should add to the rogues existing sneak attack damage as that would keep in the general flavor of the extra trained assassin class, and allow the assassin to do that critical extra damage more effectively.

Now, no special Telescopic crossbows of sighting and distance for you matey, or our DM will sulk and throw out all his toys, when you've sniped his Advanced, Corrupted, Tauric, Gelatinous, Vampiric, Half Dragon Hill Giant of Doom, in the head and dropped him with one shot. Doh !!!! Only Mages with Disintegrate are allowed to do that....Sorry! dude couldn't resist the joke based on your thread in GeneralRPG...hahahahahahahahahaha ;) :) :D Later Dude !!!ZAL.

A bit of a mis-placed sneak attack damage thing going on sorry. I meant that as an assassin you get for example 1d6 sneak and if you study target for 3 rounds it doubles to 2d6 etc so I have just finished the char and he has 7d6 sneak from both classes(3d6 rogue, 4d6 assassin), now using mongooses book is that 8d6 assassination damage or 14d6 total damage?

In all Fairness.....

I would say that you would only double the "Assassin" sneak attack damage and then add the Rogue sneak attack afterwards. It's not that clear in the Book tho' , so maybe open for mis-interpretation. I would go for the lesser version for now and then you won't be disappointed when it gets clarified at a later date.:)

Assasin

Speak to hypersmurf he seems to answer most posts :) send him an email by clicking on his name then onto his email address :)

I'm afraid I don't have any Mongoose books, so I can't comment on one of their classes...

Although I'd be inclined from what's been said to agree with Hackenslash - double the Assassin dice and add the Rogue dice.

I'd say from a GMs perspective that the Assassin's sneak attack damage is doubled then the rogue's sneak attack damage is added afterwards.

It would be kind of cheesy to take one level of the Assassin class then get the rest of your level's in Rogue. The benefit is just too great for my tastes.
