D&D 5E Monk Flurry of Blows and movement

Hi

A situation arose in our game last night where the Monk player wanted to use his attack action to strike a kobold and if he killed it, use his move to reach another Kobold and then use his bonus action from Flurry of blows to hit that one.

After a discussion we ruled that it wasn't allowable as, it defeated the imagery of what Flurry of Blows is, however what would be the official ruling? (the rules read like we were correct, but seemed a little ambiguous)

Also a bit OT, but is the true strike spell useful for anything it seems that it would only come into play if you were wanting a better chance of hitting with a high level spell? We have an Archer Warlock in the group and he was going to pick it, but for general Archery it seemed a bit of a waste

Don't have the book in front of me, but I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed, since you're permitted to move between attacks.

I Concur.

PBR v0.2 Page 70, PHB p. 190.
Moving between Attacks
If you take an action that includes more than one
weapon attack, you can break up your movement even
further by moving between those attacks. For example,
a fighter who can make two attacks with the Extra
Attack feature and who has a speed of 25 feet could
move 10 feet, make an attack, move 15 feet, and then
attack again.

Makes sense, thanks guys!
its just how we envisioned flurry of blows. I guess the cinematic's fit as well with a move in between tho!

There's a few ways I imagine it:

1) The monk moves with blinding speed between the targets, and only when their movement is over do the enemies drop to the ground behind them.

2) The monk's ground movement isn't just walking, it's backflips and somersaults and suchlike, so after killing one target, they spin around or continue their flips to kill another one.

3) The monk's death-dealing blow leaves the other enemies stunned enough that they can move and attack again.

etc.

Y'know, not gonna break the game if you don't allow moving between attacks, but it makes the game a lot more mobile and the characters a lot more awesome when they do that, IMO!

Just remember that movement is not an action in 5e.

You can move whenever you want on your turn, in as many segments as you want to break it into, up to your Speed. Movement can happen between any two other actions or parts of actions.

Even the Dash action isn't actually movement. It's just an action that increases your maximum allotment of movement for the turn.

I actually agree with allowing movement between attacks, but I think the confusion arises because of the text of Flurry of Blows:

"Immediately after you take the Attack action on your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to make two unarmed strikes as a bonus action."

Debatably, the "immediately" could be interpreted as applying to both the use of a ki point and making two extra attacks, which would supersede the general rule of movement being allowed between attacks. Like I said: I think this is wrong, IMO "immediately" applies only to the decision to spend a ki point. But I think technically the written text is ambiguous.
