Monks, Mage-Killing and SR Improving

Artoomis

First Post
Monks are obviously good at Mage-Killing, what with good saves, SR, lots of speed and lots of attacks.

Some ideas to help this are items to help with mage-killing are items to help see invisible and to fly, but there are no items or feats that I know of to increase SR.

What can I do to increase my monk's SR to be better at avoiding magic so as to be able to take care of enemy mages? Any ideas from any source book would be appreciated.

I'd like my 21st-level monk build to be geared towards mage-killing, so that means surviving the myriad of mage spells first, so as to be able to close with the mage and kill him.

There's an increase SR feat in the Epic Level Handbook, another in the book of vile darkness, (and possibly one in the BoED not sure though).

Yeah, spells with no save are a pain in the butt for mr. I-have-great-saves. :)

I recommend an epic cloak of SR- my alienist has one that gives her SR 40 at 22nd level, and boy howdy is that useful!

Yeah the cloak of SR 40 is way underpriced in my opinion, you can legitimately have one at 20th level, where its effectively immunity to magic, its better than the SR 29, that a Drow pays 2 levels for at the same stage.

I wonder if anyone would let me trade 200 000 GP for a bit more than 2 levels ;).

You are mistaken. Monks lose to Mages (1-on-1) much like everyone else.

They simply lack the means to prevent them from casting, unless you go insane with antimagic field items or somesuch, of course. :)

Bye
