Heh. Yeah, that's the biggest benefit of the feat at high level character creation! :D

Epic monks can certainly kill mages. Even epic mages don't have that many hp, so they've really only got about 2 rounds to get something done (my ECL 24 monk had 4 attacks/round at +34 doing 2d10+2d6+9 each. Then there are the lower iterative attacks). And why Stunning Fist? Go right for Quivering Palm, and have that mage dead in right now.

But D&D is typically a team on team sport, so you don't even need to kill the mage. If you just keep him from killing your friends, you're golden.

No, but Hide Life. ;)

Yeah, that can be nasty, but at higher levels, even mages will have Death Ward.

Altho, to be fair, Death Ward probably doesn't help.
Immune to Critical does, however. That would be possible and quite useful in general.

Or he could simply make the Fort save. :D

Very true. But I think it's the point of that character to actually kill the mage. :)

There's the Occult Slayer from CW. It's only alright, but gives some good bonuses against spellcasters like save bonuses, double damage when interupting a spellcaster, and spell deflection (1/day, I think).

It is pretty pointless attempting to trick a monk out to be an ultimate mage killer (any more than taking the IMO somewhat more effective route of cleric as mage killer - spell immunity, better SR and destruction/implosion spells are pretty neat in that role).

Fact is, at near-epic levels so much depends upon who gets the drop on who, and what the particular circumstances of the encounter are. As a for-instance I'd rather expect any 20th+ level wizard to have some fairly standard plans for coping with attacking monks - e.g. Timestop + Acid Fog + Dimensional Lock, and if you have the extra rounds of timestop (quite likely) drop a force cage on him. (or swap the force cage with the acid fog for increased security if you are not confident of getting that third round of timestop) Only the dimensional lock is subject to SR, so if he doesn't manage to make the SR roll he isn't dimension dooring out of there. MD is always a good opener as well, of course, except against VoP monks. Moment of Prescience will give him +20 on a saving throw (or AC against a single attack) probably allowing him to shrug off the first attempt to stun him.

I'm not saying that its impossible, just that it is futile. You're better off just concentrating on having a fun game, IMO.
