Monster Character Poll

Just curious to know if my group is the only one who plays really weird monster characters. When we play, it goes something along the lines of this...

Beholder Psion
Wraith Monk
Abeil Barbarian
Bodak Paladin
Destrachan Wizard
Mezzoloth Druid
Platinum Horror Bard
And so on...

I actually DM, but I have allowed drow and such. I would allow Tieflings, but no Half-dragons except in a high-powered campaign. This doesn't really count, but once in a really hilarious, silly campaign there was a PC parakeet - but I'd never allow that in a serious campaign.

As a DM with access to Savage Species I allow almost anything with a few exceptions.

But in general I allow anything that is not mindless or overpowered for the campaign in question. Also, the character must convince me why I should allow an exotic PC that is either non-humanoid in appearance and/or larger than large or smaller than small.

As for weird stuff I have played, the weirdest so far is a mind-flayer Illithid Savant/Soul Eater that has just reached ECL 21. The most fun however is an Ogre Mage.
