Monster Formatting

When I get the free time Im gonna post the stats blocks for the old format...no actual creatures...just a blank slate for use by those who hate the new mangled format. Ill be putting in a different thread though.

The new format really does suck for details...Ive never like generic spew stats. Any idiot can make generic stats...its easy. Thats precisely why I like the old stats. They aren't so corporate and crapped out like so much spew. I think WOTC is just starting to get lazy. First they steal the company from Gary Gygax. Then they improve the system a little. Then they mass produce it on an epic level. Then they mangle the hell out of in hopes of bigger profits (the new stat blocks and wussified demon lords). Essentially raping the system and catering to people who have never played dungeons and dragons, advanced dungeouns and dragons (1st edition), or advanced dungeons and dragons (2nd edition). I think they owe traditionalist gamers an apology for ruining the game with this processed cheese version of D&D.
There is so much wrong with this I don't know where to start. Regardless of the aesthetic choice made in using one stat block or another... WotC never stole anything from EGG, changing the CRs of monsters doesn't equate to bigger profits, claiming people who play Dungeons & Dragons have never played Dungeons and Dragons is elitist (and dull), and nobody owes anyone an apology for making a game.

First off...WOTC did not "MAKE" a game...they stole it out from under Gary Gygax.

Secondly...Older editions of D&D didnt have challenge ratings.

Thirdly...I never said people who play the new 3.0 or 3.5 Editions have never played ealier editions of D&D (before spouting off one should read the entirety of what was written).

Fourthly...Yes I am an elitist. There is nothing wrong with being an elite gamer. Most old school gamers are the cream of the crop. We know the history and whatnot.

And Finally...Yes...WOTC does owe old school gamers an apology. They owe them one first and foremost for ousting Gary Gygax (the games "TRUE CREATOR", his friends helped too), secondly for ripping people off by going from 3.0 to 3.5, and thirdly for stripping many of the monster races of their abilities. Like the drow, who now have no underground detection abilities, all in the name of catering to money and profit.

PS...I never said anything about challenge ratings.

Assumptive comments aren't welcome, but then again neither is condescension nor insults. Let's keep all of it to a minimum, please.

If I may pose a quick question. How exactly does altering the racial abilities of the drow in any way impact WOTC's business case?

Whie acusing WOTC of "messing with XXX rules in order to make more profit" might be cathartic to say...unfortunately it has no grounding in in market realities.
