Monster Manual 2 Survey

And yet any significant increase in fluff is going to result in fewer useful statblocks in the MM3, and that's an outcome I don't want to see happen.

It turns me down having to rely on low fluff and art to figure out how a monster acts.

I understand (not saying it's your case) some DMs want to run tactical games or don't vare if there's a troll in a door and gorillas in the next, but a monster fluff that doesn't inspire me it's a useless statblock.

So, a zillion monster blocks with no fluff it's like having no monster at all.

I think the only compromise between "no fluff" and "lots o' fluff would be “My Monster Manual”. You begin with a database of thousands of entries. Next, you choose which monsters you wish to have in your book. Illustrations, information regarding monster ecologies, world-specific information, and player character racial traits may be included if desired. Then, simply select “Order” and your Monster Manual is printed and shipped to your door.

I told them that the Table of Contents for the MM2 was utter ass.

Seriously, who's idea was it to not put monster groups in alphabetical order, and instead just put individual monster names in the ToC?

That guy needs to be sent to an empty cubical and think about what he did.

Not really - it is an option directly available within their subscription service. The price for buying a single month is disproportionately higher than buying multiple months at a time, for precisely that reason. And it does come with a downside - you don't get that new info during the months you aren't subscribing. I'm perfectly happy as a subscriber to pay month to month, and get everything I want as it becomes available. If someone wants to wait several months for it and get it in limited doses, that doesn't other me.

To each his own, but I still think how I think.

I think the amount of fluff is just right in MM2. There's some interesting hints and details, and that's all I want. I think the AD&D2e manuals were dreadful, with entire pages wasted to detail yet another 1-HD demihuman. If I wanted to read about a campaign setting, I'd buy a campaign setting.

Same here. I also said I would like to have 2 MMs a year (or rather a MM and a Fiend Folio) rather than just the one. I loooove monsters.

Well, this year there is MM3 and Dark Sun, so you get your wish this year.

I'm probably hitting m limit with both of those or maybe even one of them. I have oodles of 3.x monsters I have never used, and I played 3.x for a long time on three monster books.

I'm with Avin on this. Since I get all the crunch through DDI and the monster builder, I want the cool nifty story inspiration in the MM books.
I'd be cool with this, but that said it would still be really helpful to include the monster art in the Adventure Tools. It'd be nice to have something to work with besides "apparently this is a humanoid reptile that carries two javelins."

Actually, I think what I would find most useful in a monster manual is a short description or some other suggested flavor text for each power that a monster has. That way, on the monster's turn, I don't have to rack my brains if I want to say something more evocative than, "The [monster] uses [power name]! What's your [defense]?"

I think I'll swing by the Wizards site to put in that suggestion.
