So does anyone know of a list of monsters in the book?

My question is, what's the deal with 1,001 Spawn of Tiamat I hear are in the book? How many exactly are there and does any WotC representative have an explanation behind the numerous spawns?

There is no official list of monsters, but we try to keep an up-to-date list here.

The number of spawn of Tiamat is likewise unknown, and guesses range from 10 to 25. My theory is that there are only ten, and you can read about the whys in the above thread.

And the explanation on the numerous spawn - it's the Year of the Dragons.

So today on the D&D website, we get another cleverly-disguised preview of MMIV. And at this rate, I can see why they'd want to hide them. The Vicious Venue of Fisherman's Island includes the greenspawn sneak. Which is, apparently, a 2 HD monstrous humanoid with uncanny dodge and 2s6 sneak attack. CR 2. So it's basically a "we don't want to just use a human rogue because the CR would be higher" monster. A "we're running out of ideas" monster. A "screw this, I'm just going to use a dark creeper - more history and more flavor" kind of monster.

If this is the kind of creature we can expect from all the dragonspawn (and I think that 25 is a much more likely number, hate to disagree, Knight Otu), this might be the Monster Manual I don't buy.

Art's pretty good, though. The swords are unique without looking too ridiculously unwieldy, and the dragon's got a throat-sac, which isn't something you see every day.

Demiurge out.

Redspawn Arcaniss was a likewise dull, uninspired, lazy monster design than anyone familiar with 3.5 monster rules could have come up with in 10 minutes.

I'm pretty sure there will be 25 spawn, but I'm not buying the book anyway.

Just posted the basic sentiment to the other thread, but the spawn of Tiamat look to be the lowest value in a lackluster collection.

Pity.
