Bluespawn Godslayer Level 22 Elite Brute

Str 28 (+20) Dex 19 (+15) Wis 22 (+17)
Con 25 (+18) Int 10 (+11) Cha 16 (+15)


What is the reason that the Charisma Bonus is +15?
SHould it be 11(for level) + 3(for Charisma Score) = 14?

Same with the Vampire Spawn Level 5 Minion

Str 14 (+5) Dex 16 (+6) Wis 12 (+4)
Con 14 (+5) Int 10 (+3) Cha 14 (+5)

Shouldn't Wisdom Bonus be +3?

Did WotC add arbitrary bonuses or is there a formula?

The numbers in parenthesis are not ability modifiers, they are ability CHECK modifiers. They include 1/2 level.

Forget everything you know, and reread everything. Assume nothing is the same.
 

I understand they are not ability modifiers.
In the MM, it says the number in parantheses are the ability bonus + the level bonus.

Those numbers do not make the printed numbers unless they added a +1 for some reason.

Is it a typo or on purpose? Because if it is a typo there are alot. Look at some of the human entries.
 

He's aware of that. He's pointed out two stats where they don't add up correctly.

Actually all the Vampire Spawn bonuses seems to be one point too high.
 





Maybe Vampire Spawn was supposed to be level 6?
Either that or they initially were set to level 6 and later (incorrectly) revised.

As I pointed out in a different thread (the one about the DDI encounter calculator), there is some evidence that minions originally only existed at levels 1/6/11/16/21/26.

I suppose we'll get several additional rounds of errata before all the minor inconsistencies are fixed - assuming they'll actually try to fix them.
