Monster program

Does anyone know of a program that lists the stats of all the monsters from the SRD?
Does this program enable a user to add a template at the click of a button and have the templated creature with the correct stats, CR, etc?

I am a time-poor DM and would love to know of a program that would allow me to:
1 - Customise monsters with ease.
2 - Add templates to monsters at the click of a button.
3 - Import monsters from other d20 material.

If it is something like Campaign Suite, DMGenie or whatever, that is fine, just wondering if something like this is available, or whether someone is making something like this. Think it would prove very useful for many DMs.

My Monster program will do SRD creatures and will add the Fiendish or Celestial Template. See sig for download.

E:Tools and PCGen will both do templates. I'm not sure about the other character generators or Excel sheets that are out there.

"Import other monsters" - not sure what you're going for there. E:Tools does have datasets available from other sources for purchase.

DM Genie will do monster templates. When you add a monster to a group you can apply the template from a drop down box. It is easy to import feats, monsters, classes and such into DM Genie, but you do have to have a source to import them from. There are a couple of Yahoo Groups that try to make some of these available. Of course it comes with all the monsters in the SRD.

DMFTodd, I thought PCGen and Etools were more for character generation. While it is useful that they can add templates to characters, I am more looking at opponents for the players to battle.

IronWolf, DMGenie sounds like the one for me, BUT for adding more monsters of templates. From what you are describing, I take it that there is no screen to be able to add in the information about a monster or template? Instead the creature has to be made into a text file or something like that?

If anyone has more info on how one can add more options in DMGenie, or other programs, much appreciated.

DM Genie has a GUI front end (i.e. you can select new feat, new skill, new item, etc.). Now to get the bonuses and such to apply like you want I believe you need to do some scripting to get that part to work. Once you have your new item created you can export just that item to allow it to be easily imported into another copy of DM Genie.

I don't do much customization to it. I would recommend checking the DM Genie Forums for more information. I am sure there are people that that could answer your questions in better detail. Remember you can get a free 60 day trial too to play with it before purchasing.

Good luck!

DM Genie is your answer. There are several yahoo groups of folks who do un-authorized programing so that you are not limited just to SRD.

I'm no expert on those two (where's kingpaul pimping PCGen when you need him? :) ), but I think that's incorrect. Both programs well let you start with a monster or a race, and then templates and character classes. After all, there's really no difference between a "monster" and a "character" as far as the rules are concerned.

You can do that with PCGen. In fact, one of the plug-ins for PCGen, GMGen, will allow you to set up the combat with the party and the opponents so you can track damage during the session.

Do they follow the OGL? Your comment on un-authorized sounds, to me, like it may also not be following publisher rights. I could be mistaken though, as I don't use DMGenie.
