D&D 5E Monsters as PCs for 5th?

I'm against it since most of the time the mechanics for it are pretty bad like Savage Species.

A handful of playable monstrous races (all monstrous humanoids, say: gnoll, orc, lizardfolk, goblinoids) is enough to keep me happy. I'm really hopeful that they'll be stated out in the DMG -- it would take 3 pages at most, I figure, since it wouldn't need full descriptions, just the mechanical effects (as in the back of the previous MM). I don't particularly wasn't more or need more than that.

If it was in the style of the Advanced Race Guide, then it would be a better product than the Savage Species was. Now, if they did a simple Savage Species to 5th, I see a wasted chance for them.

I would buy it if they made it presentable and not just a wall of text for the monsters.
